Fri Oct 18 14:22:24 UTC 2024: ## West Indies Stun England to Reach T20 World Cup Semi-Finals

**Dubai, UAE:** The West Indies women’s cricket team secured a dramatic victory over England in their final group stage match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, securing a place in the semi-finals.

The Caribbean side chased down a challenging target of 141 runs, overcoming a tense finish to win by 6 wickets.

Opener Kycia Knight (52) and captain Hayley Matthews (50) led the charge, both hitting half-centuries and laying a strong foundation for the victory. Deandra Dottin (27) then unleashed a blistering innings, hitting four consecutive boundaries in the 16th over, before being dismissed just six runs short of victory.

Earlier, England had set a respectable total of 140 runs thanks to a strong knock from Nat Sciver-Brunt (57 not out). She anchored the innings after the early loss of top-order batters, including skipper Heather Knight (21 retired hurt).

The win sees West Indies advance to the semi-finals, while England’s hopes of a second T20 World Cup title are dashed.

**”We played a good game,”** said Matthews after the victory. **”We knew it was going to be a tough match against England. We were determined to win, and we’re happy to be through to the next stage.”**

The West Indies will now face the winner of Group A in the semi-finals.
