**Riyadh, Saudi Arabia -** World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz will face his idol and fellow Spaniard, Rafael Nadal, in a highly anticipated semi-final clash at the Six Kings Slam exhibition tournament in Riyadh on Thursday. The match promises to be a bittersweet affair, as Nadal has announced his retirement from professional tennis following next month’s Davis Cup Finals.

Alcaraz, who secured his spot in the semi-final with a dominant 6-4 6-2 win over Holger Rune, spoke of his mixed emotions about facing Nadal for what could be the last time. “Since I started to play tennis, I’m watching his matches,” Alcaraz said during his on-court interview. “I look up to him and I grew up watching him. He was my idol, he is still my idol.”

“Knowing he is going to retire is pretty tough for everyone, for me,” Alcaraz continued. “I will try to enjoy sharing the court with him once again, but I think it is really difficult for everyone.”

Nadal, who has won 22 Grand Slam titles throughout his career, acknowledged the rise of the new generation in tennis, including Alcaraz. “The next generation are very young, they’re winning Grand Slams and Masters 1000s.
