Fri Oct 18 12:23:48 UTC 2024: ## JEE Main Exam Returns to Pre-Pandemic Format: NTA Announces Changes for 2025

**New Delhi, October 18:** The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced a significant change to the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) for engineering courses, reverting to the pre-pandemic exam pattern starting from JEE Main 2025.

The major change involves the discontinuation of the optional question format in Section B, which was introduced in 2021 as a relief measure during the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously, candidates could attempt any five questions out of ten in this section.

From 2025 onwards, Section B will consist of five numerical questions per subject, and all questions must be answered. This means candidates will no longer have the option to choose which questions they attempt.

The NTA also announced that the application process for the first phase of JEE Main 2025 will commence soon. Details regarding the application process will be available on the NTA’s official website, http://www.nta.ac.in and https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/.

The 300-mark JEE Main exam comprises three sections: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. It has 90 questions in total, 30 in each section. Section A consists of 20 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) per subject, while Section B will now have five mandatory numerical questions per subject.

Each correct answer will be awarded four marks, while each incorrect answer will result in a deduction of one mark.

Aspiring candidates are advised to visit the NTA’s official websites for the latest updates regarding the JEE Main 2025 exam.
