Fri Oct 18 09:01:38 UTC 2024: ## India Crumbles to Historic Low in Bengaluru Test, New Zealand Takes Control

**Bengaluru:** In a stunning turn of events, India suffered a humiliating collapse on day two of the first Test against New Zealand in Bengaluru, bowled out for a paltry 46 runs in their first innings – the lowest total in a home Test match for the team. The hosts were completely undone by the pace and movement of the New Zealand bowlers in overcast conditions, with five batters, including Virat Kohli, failing to score a single run.

The day began with a promising 20-run partnership between Yashasvi Jaiswal (13) and Rishabh Pant (20), who top-scored for India. However, the partnership was short-lived as India lost their last seven wickets for a mere 15 runs, succumbing to relentless pressure from the Kiwi bowlers.

Matt Henry (5-15) spearheaded the New Zealand bowling attack, picking up five wickets in his 13.2 overs. William O’Rourke (4-22) also starred, taking the final Indian wicket and claiming six maidens in his spell.

In reply, New Zealand amassed a strong 180-3 at stumps, building a lead of 134 runs. Devon Conway led the charge with a scintillating 91, peppering the Indian bowling attack with 11 fours and three sixes.

The day was marred by further misfortune for India as wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant left the field with a right knee injury, replaced by Dhruv Jurel.

With a commanding lead and a strong batting lineup, New Zealand will be looking to further extend their dominance in the remaining days of the match, aiming for their first Test victory over India in the country since 1988.
