Fri Oct 18 08:10:11 UTC 2024: ## New Zealand Dominate Day 3 of First Test Against India, Leading by 299 Runs

**Bengaluru, India -** New Zealand extended their dominance in the first Test against India, taking a commanding 299-run lead after lunch on day 3. Rachin Ravindra’s unbeaten century, a magnificent 104 off 125 balls, was the cornerstone of the Kiwi resurgence.

Ravindra, who shared an unbroken 112-run eighth-wicket partnership with Tim Southee (49*), guided New Zealand to 345 for 7 at lunch. This followed India’s dismal first innings total of 46, achieved on Thursday.

Earlier in the day, India looked to regain control with wickets from Ravindra Jadeja (3 wickets) and Jasprit Bumrah (1 wicket). However, the strong batting display from Ravindra and Southee ultimately steered the match firmly in New Zealand’s favor.

It’s worth noting that Rishabh Pant was rested for India on day 3 after sustaining a knee injury on the second day. The match resumed with Darryl Mitchell falling to Mohammad Siraj in the first session.

The match continues on day 3, with New Zealand well-positioned to take a significant lead in the series opener.
