**New Delhi, October 16, 2024:** Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, fondly known as “Jaddu,” has announced his retirement from T20 international cricket, bringing to an end a remarkable journey that saw him rise from humble beginnings to become a pivotal figure in Indian cricket.

Jadeja, born in 1988, hails from a modest family in Gujarat. Despite facing personal tragedies, including the loss of his mother at the age of 17, he persevered and carved out a successful career. His father, a security guard, instilled a strong work ethic in Jadeja, who went on to make his Test debut in 2003 and ODI debut in 2004.

He is known for his versatile skills, excelling in both bowling and batting. Notably, he became only the second Indian bowler, after Anil Kumble, to be ranked number one in the ICC ODI bowling rankings. Jadeja also holds the distinction of being the only Indian bowler to score triple centuries in first-class cricket.

In 2019, he was awarded the prestigious Arjuna Award for Cricket, recognizing his contributions to the sport. His most recent performance at the T20 World Cup 2024 saw him play a crucial role in India’s triumph, despite his bowling figures not being particularly impressive. He showcased his invaluable batting skills in key matches, including a crucial 17 runs off 9 balls in the semi-final against England.

Jadeja’s retirement from T20 internationals marks a significant moment in Indian cricket. Though his journey on the international stage may be over, he continues to represent Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, solidifying his position as a key player in the domestic circuit.
