Fri Oct 18 07:45:19 UTC 2024: ## Bahraich Violence: Accused’s Sister Pleads for Fair Investigation, Husband Missing

**Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh:** In a shocking turn of events, two accused in the recent Bahraich violence, Sarfaraz and Taleem, were allegedly shot in an encounter by police while attempting to flee to Nepal. Both sustained gunshot wounds in their legs and are currently hospitalized in stable condition.

The two men are sons of Abdul Hamid, whose house was the site of the fatal shooting of Ram Gopal Mishra, the incident that sparked the violent riots.

Speaking to Local 18, Sarfaraz’s sister, Rukhsar, expressed her grief over the incident and demanded a fair investigation into the matter. “I live in Bahraich, my in-laws are in Kewanaganj, and my parents are in Maharajganj,” she said. “I am deeply saddened by the death of Ram Gopal Mishra. This should not have happened. It was a first-time incident in our area, and we only hope the government takes the right steps to address the situation.”

Rukhsar further appealed for a thorough investigation into the case, demanding justice for all involved. “We just want the government to conduct a clear investigation and bring to light those responsible for this tragedy,” she pleaded.

Adding to the family’s woes, Rukhsar disclosed that her husband is also in police custody. “My husband is in police custody and we haven’t been able to contact him. We were told he was taken to sign some documents, but we haven’t heard from him since.”

The tragic incident began last Sunday when Ram Gopal Mishra was shot during Durga idol immersion festivities in Maharajganj, Bahraich. This sparked widespread violence, with enraged crowds wreaking havoc in the district the following morning.
