Fri Oct 18 13:00:00 UTC 2024: ## Tennis Star Rublev Reveals He Almost Lost Testicle in Emergency Surgery

**Stockholm, Sweden** – World No. 7 Andrey Rublev has revealed the shocking details of a recent health scare that almost cost him one of his testicles. The Russian tennis player underwent emergency surgery before the China Open last month, after experiencing a sudden, intense pain.

“I almost lost my ball,” Rublev quipped at the ATP 250 in Stockholm, where he is the top seed. “I was super lucky because they say you have only five or six hours if the blood stops going there and then it’s amputation.”

Rublev had been preparing for the Asian swing when he felt the pain. Doctors determined that the situation was urgent, rushing him into surgery just hours after the initial discomfort. He was even asked to sign paperwork authorizing an amputation if necessary.

“They checked straight away and they took me as an emergency to do the surgery and then they were able to do the surgery in three or four hours after the first feeling I felt,” he explained.

The surgery was successful, and Rublev managed to return to the court for the China Open just a week later. He later revealed the details of the surgery during the Shanghai Masters, where he acknowledged the gravity of the situation.

“After the US Open I was preparing for China, and a couple of days before the flight I needed an operation, which, if not performed, could have led to amputation,” he told BetBoom Tennis.

Despite the harrowing ordeal, Rublev seems to be in good spirits and is focused on his upcoming matches in Stockholm.
