**Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu -** The Coimbatore district administration has announced a series of measures to prevent flooding and ensure public safety during the upcoming monsoon season.

Following guidelines issued by Chief Minister MK Stalin and departmental meetings led by Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, the Coimbatore Collector and Commissioner have implemented several preventative measures.

**Key initiatives include:**

* **Colour-coded water level markings in underpasses:** These markings will clearly indicate which types of vehicles can safely pass through underpasses based on the water level, preventing accidents.
* **Formation of WhatsApp groups:** Senior officials from various departments, including the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (Tangedco), will be included in WhatsApp groups for immediate communication and coordination during the monsoon.
* **Desilting of stormwater drains and sewage canals:** This ongoing effort, which began in May, is scheduled to be completed by the end of October.
* **Targeted flood prevention efforts:** Six locations prone to water stagnation have been identified and will receive specific attention from the Corporation.
* **Tangedco emergency response teams:** Teams have been established in every district to respond to power outages and ensure uninterrupted supply during the monsoon, prioritizing public safety.

Minister for Electricity, Prohibition and Excise V. Senthil Balaji, who visited Coimbatore on Tuesday to inspect flood-prone areas and meet with officials, highlighted the importance of public awareness. He encouraged citizens to remain alert and cautious during the monsoon season and to contact 9498794987 for any electricity-related concerns.

The Coimbatore district administration is confident that these preventative measures will effectively minimize the impact of monsoon rains on residents and maintain public safety.
