**Dibalong, Assam:** The Agartala-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express train derailed at Dibalong station in Assam on Thursday evening, leaving eight coaches off the tracks. While the incident caused a major disruption to train services, there were thankfully no casualties or injuries reported.

The train, which departed from Agartala on Thursday morning, was en route to Mumbai’s Lokmanya Tilak Terminus when the derailment occurred. The incident happened around 3:55 PM near Dibalong station in the Lumding-Bardarpur Hill section of the Lumding division.

The cause of the derailment is currently under investigation. Railway officials are working to clear the affected tracks to minimize disruption to other train services.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the incident, stating that all passengers have been safely evacuated and arrangements are being made for their further assistance.

The North Eastern Frontier Railway (NEFR) has confirmed that 8 coaches, including the train’s power car and engine, have derailed. Train operations on the single-line Lumding-Badarpur section have been suspended.

The NEFR has dispatched a rescue train and a medical team to the site to oversee the rescue and restoration efforts. Senior officials from the division are also on their way to the accident site from Lumding.

Railway officials are advising passengers to check for updates on alternative routes and rescheduled trains.
