**Kathmandu, Nepal** – The highly anticipated SAFF Women’s Championship 2024 is set to begin on October 17th in Kathmandu, Nepal. Seven South Asian nations will compete in a total of 12 matches over the next two weeks for the coveted title.

The tournament will see defending champions Bangladesh join forces with India and Pakistan in Group A. Meanwhile, host nation Nepal, Maldives, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka will battle it out in Group B.

The opening match will be a clash of titans as five-time champions India take on their arch-rivals Pakistan at the Dasharath Rangasala Stadium in Kathmandu at 5:15 PM IST.

The tournament will follow a single round-robin format with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals on October 27th. The final is scheduled for October 30th, also at the Dasharath Rangasala Stadium.

India, currently ranked 68th in the FIFA women’s rankings, are the highest-ranked team in the tournament. Host Nepal are next at 99th, making them the only other team in the top 100. Bangladesh sits at 139th, followed by Sri Lanka at 157th. Pakistan, Maldives, and Bhutan round out the rankings at 158th, 161st, and 175th, respectively.
