Thu Oct 17 14:44:13 UTC 2024: ## India Collapses to Lowest Test Score at Home, New Zealand Take Control in Bengaluru
**Bengaluru:** India suffered a humiliating collapse in the first Test against New Zealand at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, being bowled out for a paltry 46 runs on Day 2. This is India’s lowest ever Test score at home and the lowest score by any team in Asia in a Test innings. The Kiwis, in reply, reached 180/3 at the end of the day, taking a commanding 134-run lead.
The Indian innings was a disaster from the outset, with the top order crumbling under pressure from the New Zealand bowlers. Captain Rohit Sharma was dismissed for just 2 runs in the seventh over, and Virat Kohli and Sarfaraz Khan followed soon after.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant offered some resistance, but the wickets kept tumbling, with India eventually being bowled out in just 31.2 overs. Mat Henry was the pick of the bowlers for New Zealand, taking 5 wickets, while Will O’Rourke claimed 4.
New Zealand’s innings started with a strong partnership between Tom Latham and Devon Conway, who put on 67 runs for the first wicket. Conway continued to dominate, reaching 91 before being dismissed by R Ashwin.
The day was marred by an injury to Rishabh Pant, who was struck on the knee while trying to stop a ball. He left the field and was replaced by Druv Jurel behind the stumps.
With a substantial lead and a strong batting line-up still to bat, New Zealand are in a dominant position going into the third day. India will need a miracle to salvage something from this match.
