**Dubai:** Indian women’s cricket legend Neetu David has been inducted into the prestigious ICC Hall of Fame, joining the ranks of cricketing greats like AB de Villiers and Alastair Cook. The announcement was made by the ICC, following a selection process involving existing Hall of Famers, senior executives, and global cricket media.
David, the current chief selector for the Indian women’s team, becomes the second Indian woman to be inducted into the Hall of Fame after former captain Diana Edulji.
Known for her skillful left-arm spin, David was a formidable force for India during her career. She became the first Indian woman to take 100 wickets in ODIs, a feat achieved during the 2005 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in South Africa.
“It is truly an honor to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame,” said David in an ICC statement. “This comes after a lifetime of dedication to this great sport.”
David’s induction coincides with the conclusion of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Dubai. The Class of 2024 will be celebrated in a series of special events this week.
Alongside David, former England captain Alastair Cook and South African all-rounder AB de Villiers were also inducted. Cook is England’s highest Test run-scorer and century-maker, while De Villiers is known for his explosive batting across all formats.
ICC CEO Geoff Allardice expressed his delight at the induction of the three legends. “Beyond their remarkable statistics spanning all formats of the game, all three have made significant contributions to the way the game is played today,” he stated.
