Thu Oct 17 08:50:32 UTC 2024: ## Indian Spin Legend Neetu David Inducted into ICC Hall of Fame

Former Indian captain Diana Edulji has warmly welcomed fellow left-arm spinner Neetu David into the ICC Hall of Fame, describing her as the “perfect addition” to the prestigious group. Edulji, the first Indian woman to be inducted in November 2022, expressed her joy in an open letter to David.

David, alongside former England captain Alastair Cook and ex-South Africa skipper AB de Villiers, was inducted into the Hall of Fame on October 16th.

Edulji, recalling her early memories of David, praised her talent and potential even in her youth. “I knew then that I had to try and bring you to Railways and that you would go on to play for India,” Edulji wrote, highlighting David’s unique bowling style and rhythm.

David, now 47, is India’s second-highest wicket-taker in ODIs with 141 wickets. She also holds the distinction of being the first Indian woman to achieve 100 ODI wickets.

“I knew then, too, that you would replace me both for Railways and India as our leading spinner,” Edulji added, emphasizing David’s natural talent and ability to take on the mantle of India’s leading left-arm spinner.

Edulji concluded her letter by reflecting on their shared legacy and friendship: “Off the pitch, you have been a firm friend throughout the years, and I am delighted to welcome you into the ICC Hall of Fame. There are few higher honours in our sport, and to be the only two Indian women currently inducted is a special bond between the two of us.”
