**Bengaluru, October 16, 2024:** Following a day of heavy downpours, the city is bracing for more rainfall over the next three days as the northeast monsoon has officially arrived in Karnataka.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast of moderate to heavy rainfall for Bengaluru and several other districts in the state.
“The south-west monsoon withdrew from Karnataka on October 15th. Simultaneously, the north-east monsoon rainfall activity has commenced over the south-east peninsular,” said C.S. Patil, scientist and director of IMD Bengaluru.
A well-marked low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is expected to move towards Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh in the next 24 hours, leading to widespread rainfall across coastal and south-interior Karnataka.
Yellow and orange alerts have been issued for districts including Bengaluru, Kolar, Chickballapur, Tumakuru, and others, indicating the potential for heavy to very heavy rainfall from October 15th to 17th.
Temperatures in Bengaluru are expected to remain around 22 degrees Celsius maximum and 20 degrees Celsius minimum on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, the city received 59.8 mm of rainfall, while HAL airport recorded 80.1 mm and Kempegowda International Airport received 4.2 mm.
