Thu Oct 17 07:41:04 UTC 2024: ## England Opener Duckett Injured, Doubtful for Day Three of First Test Against Pakistan
**Rawalpindi, Pakistan:** England opener Ben Duckett suffered a possible left thumb dislocation during the second day of the first Test against Pakistan, throwing his participation in the remaining innings into doubt.
Duckett was fielding at slip when he was hit by a shot from Abrar Ahmed. He managed to catch the ball on his second attempt but was visibly in pain as the ball struck the tip of his thumb. After being assessed by the team physio, Duckett was forced to leave the field.
With Duckett unavailable, stand-in captain Ollie Pope partnered with Zak Crawley to face the new ball. However, Pope was dismissed for a duck by Aamir Jamal, leaving England on shaky ground.
The team spokesperson confirmed there is currently no clarity on whether Duckett will be able to bat on day three. The team is hoping the injury subsides overnight, and a scan has not been scheduled.
England are already without their regular captain Ben Stokes, who is recovering from a hamstring injury sustained during The Hundred and is aiming for a return in the second Test. Olly Stone is also unavailable for the second Test as he is set to return to the UK for his wedding.
England will be hoping Duckett’s injury is not serious and that he can recover in time to contribute to the rest of the match.
