Wed Oct 16 14:02:41 UTC 2024: ## NSG Security Withdrawn from Several VIPs, Including UP CM Yogi Adityanath
In a major security shakeup, the National Security Guard (NSG) has been relieved of its responsibility for safeguarding several prominent VIPs, including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and BSP supremo Mayawati. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will now take over security duties for these individuals.
Sources within the Ministry of Home Affairs cite the need to prioritize national security as the reason for this decision. The NSG, known for its elite commando force, will be redeployed to other critical responsibilities.
The transition is expected to be phased in over the next two months. The NSG has been responsible for providing Z+ security to nine VIPs, including those mentioned above, former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh, National Conference president Farooq Abdullah, and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
This move comes amidst concerns about the allocation of resources and the need to optimize the NSG’s capabilities for national security threats.
