Wed Oct 16 14:31:31 UTC 2024: ## UK-Based Gangster Linked to Hit on Comedian Munawar Faruqui: Delhi Police

**New Delhi, India** – A probe by Indian intelligence agencies has uncovered a plot to assassinate stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui, allegedly orchestrated by a UK-based associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The Delhi Police, while investigating a separate murder case, uncovered the plot during questioning of suspects.

According to The Indian Express, the alleged hit was outsourced to two men in Delhi by UK-based gangster Rohit Godara, who is believed to be an associate of Lawrence Bishnoi. The Delhi Police had initially been investigating the September 13 murder of an Afghan gym owner in the city.

The investigation revealed that the shooters, who were arrested in separate cases by the Special Task Force in Haryana, had also conducted reconnaissance on a prominent hotel in New Friends Colony, Delhi, where Faruqui was staying to participate in the Entertainers Cricket League.

Following this discovery, the Delhi Police alerted Faruqui, who was at the Indira Gandhi International Stadium, and provided him with security escort as he departed for Mumbai.

The incident comes after Faruqui has faced numerous allegations from Hindu groups claiming his performances hurt their sentiments. However, Faruqui has consistently denied these claims.

The Mumbai Police has provided Faruqui with security cover due to the ongoing threats from the Bishnoi gang. The investigation is ongoing and further details are expected to be released as the probe progresses.
