Wed Oct 16 15:44:39 UTC 2024: ## Milk Prices Surge in Pune as Demand Outpaces Supply During Kojagari Poornima

**Pune, India:** The festive season in Pune has brought about a significant increase in milk prices as demand surged during Kojagari Poornima, a trend witnessed annually. This year, however, supply failed to keep pace with the heightened demand, leading to a sharp increase in wholesale prices.

According to reports, the wholesale milk market in Pune saw prices reach ₹83 per liter on Wednesday, with a mere 1,000 to 1,500 liters received at the Ganesh Peth market. This shortage is attributed to the increased consumption of milk during various celebrations by public bodies, organizations, and societies.

The limited supply comes from areas including Aranyeshwar, Khadki, Lashkar, Gawliwada in Mundhwa, and Wadebolhai, Wagholi, Kesnand, Bhor, Velha, and Nasrapur along the city road. The wholesale price for an 18-liter jug of milk reached ₹1,500, a significant increase from last year’s ₹1,300.

Experts predict that milk demand will remain high during Navratri and Diwali, especially from sweet sellers. As a result, prices are likely to remain elevated in the coming weeks.
