**Dhenkanal, Oct 15:** The vibrant and culturally significant Gajalaxmi Puja festival is set to begin in Dhenkanal on Wednesday, October 16th, lasting for 11 days. Preparations are in full swing across 38 pandals in the town, with Puja committees working diligently to create visually stunning displays.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Mahaveer Bazaar Laxmi Puja, which will celebrate its platinum jubilee with special emphasis on making this milestone occasion memorable.
The festivities will showcase a harmonious blend of cultural traditions and communal spirit, as both Hindus and Muslims come together to celebrate. Prominent pandals like the Shree Shree Maudamani Rajlaxmi Puja, Kaibalya Bazaar Puja, Saubhagyalaxmi Puja in Ganesh Bazaar, and Golden Street Laxmi Puja will feature intricate decorations and idols adorned with silver ornaments.
To enhance the festive spirit, several pandals will host competitions, adding to the excitement of the celebrations. Local businesses are preparing to capitalize on the festive season, with stalls offering a wide array of food, toys, garments, and handicrafts.
The Mahishapata Pallishree Mela, featuring national-level handicrafts, will also take place from October 17th to 25th. The festival will culminate with the immersion ceremony on Sunday, October 27th.
