Wed Oct 16 16:10:36 UTC 2024: ## Bengaluru Braces for More Rain After Wall Collapse and Citywide Flooding

Bengaluru faced widespread flooding and infrastructure damage on Tuesday as heavy rains battered the city. A section of an under-construction wall inside Manyata Tech Park collapsed, causing concern among residents and sparking a viral video depicting a “landslide-like” situation. Thankfully, authorities confirmed no injuries or casualties.

Heavy showers and strong winds swept away parts of the wall, while waterlogging also impacted traffic flow in the area. Tech park authorities blamed the waterlogging on inadequate drainage systems in nearby high-rise buildings and apartment complexes.

The city’s iconic Phoenix Mall of Asia, located in north Bengaluru, was also severely affected by the downpour, with knee-deep water flooding parking areas and entrances. The mall, which recently faced controversies over language issues and traffic congestion, is currently undergoing water removal operations.

Elsewhere, the Nagawara flyover, near Manyata Tech Park, saw smooth traffic flow on Wednesday after the government advised IT-BT and private companies to allow employees to work from home. This followed heavy waterlogging and traffic congestion on Tuesday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Bengaluru, predicting moderate rain for the next two days.

Meanwhile, cricket fans are gearing up for Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan’s final Test match before retirement. Despite facing accusations of involvement in a murder case, he has been granted security for the match and has apologized for his silence during civil unrest in the country. His final match will be played against Afghanistan in the UAE.
