Wed Oct 16 07:21:27 UTC 2024: ## Pant to be India’s Trump Card in Australia: Ganguly

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has declared wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant as India’s trump card in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. The five-match Test series commences on November 22nd in Perth, with India aiming for a historic third consecutive Test series win in Australia.

“The Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be a big challenge for India,” Ganguly stated. “It will be the toughest challenge for India. Five Tests in Australia and then five Tests in England. It’s a tough challenge.”

He further emphasized Pant’s importance in the series, stating “Pant is a superb player in Tests. He will be India’s trump card in this series.” Pant recently made a triumphant return to Test cricket against Bangladesh, scoring a century in the series which India won 2-0.

Meanwhile, Indian captain Rohit Sharma may miss the first Test match due to personal reasons. While the situation remains unclear, sources suggest he may miss one of the first two Tests. If so, Jasprit Bumrah is likely to lead the team in Rohit’s absence.

India’s success in the upcoming series will depend heavily on the form of their key players, including Pant, who is seen as a crucial asset for the team in the challenging Australian conditions.
