**New Delhi:** The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the schedule for by-elections to 48 Assembly constituencies and 2 Lok Sabha seats across various states. These by-elections will be held in two phases.
The first phase will be held on **November 13th**, covering 47 Assembly constituencies and the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala. The second phase will be held on **November 20th**, with the by-election for the Kedarnath Assembly constituency in Uttarakhand and the Nanded Lok Sabha constituency in Maharashtra. The results for all by-elections will be declared on **November 23rd**.
The Wayanad by-election became necessary after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi chose to retain his Lok Sabha seat in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, and relinquished the Wayanad seat. The Nanded by-election was triggered by the demise of Congress MP Vansatharao Balwantrao Chavan in August.
The states participating in the by-elections are:

* **Rajasthan:** 7 seats
* **West Bengal:** 6 seats
* **Assam:** 5 seats
* **Bihar, Punjab:** 4 seats each
* **Karnataka:** 3 seats
* **Kerala, Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh:** 2 seats each
* **Meghalaya, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh:** 1 seat each
The by-elections will be held amid preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand, for which the ECI also announced the schedule on Tuesday.
