**New Delhi:** The Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme, launched by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, has opened up over 90,849 internship opportunities across 24 sectors nationwide. The scheme, which aims to reach 125,000 internships by the end of fiscal year 2024-25, is open to Indian nationals aged 21 to 24 who are not currently in full-time employment or education.
The program, with a budget of Rs 800 crore, offers internships in sectors like oil and gas, travel and hospitality, and banking across 737 districts. Major companies like Jubilant Foodworks, Maruti Suzuki, and Reliance Industries are participating, offering internships to high school graduates and degree holders.
**Benefits for Interns:**
Interns will receive a Rs 6,000 joining allowance through direct benefit transfer and insurance coverage under the PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima and PM Suraksha Bima Yojana. They will also earn a monthly stipend of Rs 5,000, with the government contributing Rs 4,500 and companies providing the remaining Rs 500 through CSR funds.
**Eligibility:**
To be eligible for the scheme, candidates must be Indian nationals, not in full-time employment or education, with allowances for those enrolled in online or distance learning.
The initiative is expected to empower youth with valuable work experience and enhance their employability in the Indian job market.
