**New Delhi:** Alia Bhatt’s return to the big screen with the action-drama “Jigra” has been met with mixed results. Despite positive reviews, the film’s box office performance has been underwhelming.
According to early estimates, “Jigra” collected Rs 5.65 crore on its third day, marking a significant decline from its opening weekend. The film earned Rs 6.55 crore on its second day and has a total collection of Rs 16.75 crore.
“Jigra” has faced stiff competition from “Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video,” which has earned Rs 18.65 crore, outperforming Alia Bhatt’s film.
Directed by Vasan Bala, “Jigra” stars Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina. The film tells the story of an elder sister on a mission to rescue her brother from a death sentence.
Vedang Raina, who plays the male lead, praised director Vasan Bala in an interview with Times Now, calling him “brilliant” and highlighting his creative approach to filmmaking.
While “Jigra” has received critical acclaim for Alia Bhatt’s performance, its lackluster box office performance raises questions about the film’s overall appeal to audiences.
Alia Bhatt is currently filming “Love & War” alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. Her recent Hollywood debut “Hearts Of Stone” is also available for streaming.
