Mon Oct 14 13:19:33 UTC 2024: ## Darshan and Pavithra Denied Bail in Renukaswamy Murder Case

**Bengaluru, October 14:** The 57th CCH Court in Bengaluru today dismissed the bail applications of actors Darshan Thoogudeepa and Pavithra Gowda, the main accused in the murder of Renukaswamy. The duo had been in prison since June 11th after being arrested for the alleged torture and murder of the victim.

The decision comes three weeks after the actors filed for bail. Senior advocate CV Nagesh represented Darshan, while Tommy Sebastian appeared for Pavithra Gowda.

Darshan, initially lodged in Bengaluru Central Prison, was later transferred to Ballari prison after photos of him smoking cigarettes and drinking coffee in jail went viral. Pavithra Gowda remains in Bengaluru Central Prison.

The court’s decision follows the submission of a 3,991-page charge sheet on September 4th, which details the graphic account of how Darshan and his associates allegedly assaulted Renukaswamy, leading to his death.

The victim was abducted from Chitradurga on June 9th and brought to Bengaluru, where he was confined and brutally assaulted in a shed at Pattanagere. After his murder, his body was dumped in a drain at Sumanahalli.

A total of 17 individuals, including Darshan and Pavithra, have been arrested in connection with the case. Three of the accused have already been granted bail.

With the bail applications of Darshan and Pavithra rejected, they will remain in prison while the case progresses.
