Mon Oct 14 16:50:00 UTC 2024: ## Three International Flights Disrupted by Fake Bomb Threats
Three international flights, two operated by IndiGo and one by Air India, were disrupted this morning after receiving fake bomb threats. The incidents resulted in immediate security checks and temporary grounding of the aircraft.
The Air India flight AI119, en route from Mumbai to New York’s JFK Airport, was diverted to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport after receiving a specific security alert. All 258 passengers and crew were safely evacuated, and a thorough inspection of the aircraft is underway.
Two IndiGo flights, 6E1275 bound for Muscat and 6E56 heading to Jeddah, also received security threats. Both flights were moved to isolated bays at Mumbai Airport, and security checks were initiated. The Muscat-bound plane has already departed, while the Jeddah-bound flight will resume its journey this afternoon.
The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) confirmed that all three planes received bomb threats and are investigating the nature of the threats.
While the specific nature of the threats remains unclear, the incidents highlight the serious disruption that even false alarms can cause. Authorities are working to identify the source of the threats and ensure the safety of all passengers and crew.
