Sun Oct 13 09:50:45 UTC 2024: ## Indian Cricketer Mohammed Siraj Appointed as Telangana DSP

Hyderabad, October 13, 2023 – In a surprise move, Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been appointed as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the Telangana state police force. The announcement was made by Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who praised Siraj’s contributions to the Indian cricket team, particularly his role in the recent T20 World Cup success.

Siraj, who reported to the DGP Telangana Police, Dr. Jitender on Friday, assumed his new role immediately. The cricketer was also awarded a 600 square yards land plot in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. Pictures of Siraj in his new police uniform have been widely circulated on social media.

Siraj expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister for the honor and the opportunity to serve the state. His appointment has been met with both praise and amusement, with many drawing humor from the image of a fast bowler taking on the role of a police officer.

This appointment comes at a time when Siraj is also set to feature in the upcoming Test series against New Zealand, starting October 16. He is one of the three pacers in the Indian squad, alongside Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah, who was recently named vice-captain of the Test team.

Siraj’s rise to prominence began during the 2020-21 Border Gavaskar Trophy when he made his Test debut after several senior players were ruled out due to injuries. He is expected to be a key player for India in the upcoming tour of Australia later this year.
