**Hyderabad:** Telangana Chief Minister K.T. Rama Rao has commended the ‘Alay Balay’ event for its role in promoting Telangana’s rich culture. Speaking at the event, held at the Palla Exhibition Grounds, the CM emphasized that the primary objective of ‘Alay Balay’ is to spread the state’s cultural heritage far and wide.
“Dussehra is a grand festival for Telangana people,” he said, highlighting the significance of the ‘pālapitta’ (milk pot) and ‘jammi chettu’ (neem tree) associated with the festival. He further lauded the event organizer, Vijayalakshmi, daughter of former Governor Bhandaru Dattatreya, who inherited the legacy of ‘Alay Balay’ from her father.
The CM also recalled the inspiring role of ‘Alay Balay’ in the movement for a separate Telangana state. He praised the organizers for keeping the event apolitical and focusing on cultural promotion. He also acknowledged Dattatreya’s significant contributions in preserving Telangana’s cultural identity.
