**New Delhi, Oct 12:** The Prime Minister Internship Scheme 2024, a government initiative aimed at empowering India’s youth, launched its registration process on Saturday. The scheme, expected to benefit around 10 million young people over the next five years, offers nearly 80,000 internship opportunities across 24 sectors.

The online portal, accessible through https://pminternship.mca.gov.in, facilitates a user-friendly registration process through Aadhaar authentication. This allows for efficient access to internships across diverse sectors, from oil and gas to hospitality and finance.

“In the past week, the portal has added more than 80,000 opportunities across 24 sectors,” announced the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, which manages the scheme.

Over 200 companies, including leading names like Mahindra & Mahindra, L&T, the Tata Group, and Jubilant Foodworks, have registered to offer internships. The scheme is expected to provide over 1.2 lakh internship opportunities during the current financial year.

“This transformative initiative aims to skill our youth, enhancing their employability,” said a ministry spokesperson. Interns will have the opportunity to work with top 500 companies in India for 12 months, gaining valuable practical experience. The scheme offers a monthly stipend of Rs 5,000, with Rs 500 contributed by the company through their CSR funds and the remaining Rs 4,500 provided by the government. Additionally, a one-time grant of Rs 6,000 will be provided to each intern.

The scheme follows reservation policies for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes candidates.

Eligible candidates must have completed High School or Higher Secondary School, possess an ITI certificate, a diploma from a Polytechnic Institute, or hold a graduate degree (BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BCA, BBA, B.Pharma, etc.).

The scheme, announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during the Union Budget for 2024-25, is poised to be a game-changer for young Indian professionals, offering them a unique platform to build their careers and contribute to the nation’s growth.
