Sun Oct 13 17:40:00 UTC 2024: ## Packers Receiver Romeo Doubs Returns After Suspension, Denies Role-Related Dispute
**GREEN BAY, WI** – Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs returned to the team this week after serving a one-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team. Doubs skipped two days of practice and meetings last week, citing “mental” reasons for his absence. While he expressed regret for his actions, he remained tight-lipped about the specifics of the situation.
Doubs denied that his absence was related to a lack of opportunities in the passing game, a claim reported by Sports Illustrated last week. He also denied that it was related to any health issues with himself or his family.
“I absolutely wish I would’ve handled things differently,” Doubs said during his first public comments since the suspension. “Stay in better communication” is what he would have done differently.
Head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed that Doubs will play in Sunday’s game against the Cardinals. The Packers (3-2) are coming off a 24-19 victory over the Rams, a game Doubs missed alongside fellow receiver Christian Watson (ankle injury).
While Doubs’ role in the offense was not the reason for his absence, according to him, the young receiver is part of a deep and talented receiving corps in Green Bay. The team’s focus, LaFleur stressed, should always be on team goals first.
“I think two days isn’t gonna ruin the three years of work and commitment he’s put in for us,” said teammate Christian Watson. “It’ll definitely be a little weird right away, but I mean, he’s Rome to us. I think it’ll blow by pretty quick, and we’ll all be right back to how we were.”
Doubs, who is second on the team with 20 catches for 169 yards, will look to continue his development alongside Watson, Jayden Reed, and Dontayvion Wicks. Despite his recent absence, the team is confident that Doubs will quickly reintegrate into the offense and contribute to the Packers’ success in the upcoming season.
