Sun Oct 13 16:55:53 UTC 2024: ## Over 1.5 Lakh Youth Sign Up for PM Internship Scheme in First 24 Hours
**New Delhi, October 3, 2024:** The PM Internship Scheme, launched yesterday, has seen an overwhelming response with over 1.5 lakh young candidates registering within the first 24 hours. The scheme aims to provide 1 crore youth with 12-month internships at top Indian companies over the next five years.
The portal, launched in pilot mode, has already received applications from 1,55,109 candidates. This pilot phase is targeting 1.25 lakh internship opportunities, and over 500 companies, including Jubilant Foodworks, Maruti Suzuki India, Eicher Motor, Larsen & Toubro, Muthoot Finance, and Reliance Industries, have posted nearly 91,000 internship opportunities.
The scheme is open to youth between the ages of 21 and 24 and aims to provide real-world experience and enhance their skills and employability. Internship opportunities are available across 24 sectors, including oil and gas, travel and hospitality, automotives, banking and financial services, and mining and metals, in 36 states and union territories, and 737 districts.
The government is confident that the scheme will continue to attract a large number of candidates. The portal will remain open for registration until October 25. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs will shortlist candidates based on their preferences and send the list to companies between October 27 and November 7. Candidates will receive up to three offers and will have the opportunity to accept them between November 8 and November 15. The interns are expected to begin their internships by December 2.
