**SHANGHAI, CHINA** – Jannik Sinner, the world number one, capped off a dominant season by defeating Novak Djokovic in straight sets (7-6 (4), 6-3) to win the Shanghai Masters on Sunday. This victory marks Sinner’s seventh title of the year, the most by any player since Andy Murray’s nine in 2016.

The Italian star, who had already secured the year-end world number one spot earlier in the tournament, showcased exceptional composure against the legendary Djokovic, who was aiming for his 100th tour-level title. Sinner’s powerful serves proved unstoppable, allowing him to avoid a single break point throughout the match.

“It was a very tough match, obviously, playing against Novak is one of the toughest challenges we have,” Sinner said after the match. “I’m very happy with how I handled the situation.”

The victory leveled Sinner’s head-to-head record against Djokovic at 4-4 and marked the first time since 2013 that a player had defeated the Serb three times in a row. This was also Djokovic’s first loss in the final of the Shanghai Masters, having previously won the tournament four times.

Djokovic, who battled through injury issues in the earlier rounds, acknowledged the presence of Roger Federer in the crowd and joked about the added pressure.

Sinner will now look to continue his impressive run at the Paris Masters, the last Masters event of the season, before the top eight players compete at the ATP Finals in Turin, Italy.
