Sun Oct 13 08:40:00 UTC 2024: ## Humphries Aims for Historic World Grand Prix Title Defence

**Leicester, UK -** Luke Humphries is on the cusp of an incredible year, hoping to cap off a remarkable 12 months with a second consecutive BoyleSports World Grand Prix title. The world number one, who has already claimed the World Championship, Grand Slam of Darts, Players Championship Finals, World Cup, and World Matchplay, faces Belgian challenger Mike De Decker in Sunday’s final.

Humphries, a former Development Tour player himself, recognizes the journey both he and De Decker have taken: “75% of the field [in the semi-finals] was part of the Development Tour and that’s a credit to the PDC because without that secondary tour, who knows if all three of us would have been here.” He praises the PDC’s commitment to developing talent and creating pathways for players to reach the top.

The final promises to be a thrilling contest. Humphries acknowledges De Decker’s strong form and the challenges ahead: “It’s a dream final, it really is. We’ve had so many battles and it’s going to be a good game. Mike’s playing well and I know I’m going to have to be at my best again.”

If victorious, Humphries would become only the third player to successfully defend the World Grand Prix title. De Decker, meanwhile, is aiming to become the second Belgian player to win a televised PDC event.

The final will be broadcast live on Sky Sports in the UK and through the PDC’s international broadcast partners, starting at 2000 BST on Sunday. Humphries is heavily favored to win the £120,000 top prize, but De Decker will undoubtedly be looking to pull off an upset.
