Sun Oct 13 02:30:00 UTC 2024: ## NCP Leader Baba Siddique’s Murder: Two Suspects Confess Links to Bishnoi Gang

**Mumbai:** Two suspects arrested in connection with the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique have confessed to their affiliation with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, police sources revealed. The suspects, identified as Karnail Singh from Haryana and Dharmaraj Kashyap from Uttar Pradesh, allegedly conducted reconnaissance at the shooting site in Bandra East for nearly a month.

The incident has raised security concerns in the wake of upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. The Bishnoi gang had previously targeted Bollywood actor Salman Khan, Siddique’s close friend, with a shooting incident at his residence in April this year. While the gang’s involvement in Siddique’s murder is under investigation, police have ruled out any direct threats received by the deceased from the gang.

“While investigations are ongoing to explore all angles, the suspects’ confessions have established a link to the Bishnoi gang,” a police source stated.

The murder has sparked outrage and raised questions about the safety of political figures in Maharashtra. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed his condolences to Siddique’s family and condemned the incident, highlighting the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

“This murder is extremely heartbreaking. We stand with the family in this time of grief. The incident reflects the complete breakdown of law and order in Maharashtra. The government must take responsibility,” he tweeted.

Siddique, a former Congress member who joined NCP recently, was shot dead by three assailants outside his son’s office in Bandra on Saturday evening. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The incident has further heightened security concerns in the state, prompting authorities to re-evaluate security arrangements for prominent figures.
