Sun Oct 13 08:10:21 UTC 2024: ## NCP Leader Baba Siddique Shot Dead in Mumbai, Lawrence Gang Suspect Identified
**Mumbai, India:** Baba Siddique, a former minister and prominent leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), was shot dead on Saturday evening in Bandra, Mumbai. The assailants fired six rounds, three of which hit Siddique. Initial investigations suggest that the suspected shooter, Gurmel, a resident of Narad village in Kaithal, Haryana, is an alleged associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Gurmel, who had previously been arrested for the murder of a young man in 2022, was out on bail. He is believed to have come into contact with the Lawrence gang while in prison and reportedly fled to Mumbai after securing bail.
According to sources, Gurmel left his home about a month and a half ago, telling his younger brother that he was going to Haridwar. He has not returned home since. Gurmel, who was unemployed and supported by his family through a BPL card, was also involved in another murder case in 2019, where he, along with four others, killed Sunil from his village. The murder was reportedly motivated by a family feud.
Following the revelation of the Lawrence gang’s involvement, security has been beefed up around actor Salman Khan’s residence, Galaxy Apartments, in Mumbai. The gang had previously threatened Salman Khan and fired shots outside his home on April 14th.
The investigation into Siddique’s murder is ongoing, and authorities are working to gather further information about Gurmel and his connection to the Lawrence gang.
