**Amaravati, March 10:** Andhra Pradesh witnessed an unprecedented surge in applications for liquor licenses, generating a whopping Rs. 1,792 crore for the state government. The deadline for applications was Friday evening, and by 7 pm, 87,986 applications had been received. This number further increased to 89,643 by 11 pm.

The state government is expected to generate even more revenue with pending applications. Many applicants were seen queuing up at Excise offices until midnight, while others completed their online registrations. The final tally is expected to cross 90,000, pushing the revenue beyond Rs. 1,800 crore.

The applications are for 3,396 liquor shops notified across the state, with an average of 26 applications received per shop. Competition was particularly fierce in NTR, Eluru, Guntur, East Godavari, and Vizianagaram districts.

NTR district, which has 113 notified shops, received the highest number of applications at 5,787. This includes a staggering 132 applications for shop number 96 in Vatsavai mandal, 120 for shop number 97, and 110 for shop number 81 in Penuganchiproulu. These three shops, located on the AP-Telangana border, received the highest number of applications in the state. NTR district saw an average of 51 applications per shop.

Eluru district had an average of 37 applications per shop, while Guntur, East Godavari, and Vizianagaram districts had an average of 34 applications per shop. Kurnool, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema, West Godavari, and Alluri Sitarama Raju districts received an average of 30 applications per shop.
