**Jamnagar, Gujarat:** In a significant development, former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja has been appointed as the new Jam Saheb of Nawanagar, a historical princely state located in the Halar region on the southern coast of the Gulf of Kutch in Gujarat.
The announcement was made by the Jam Saheb of Nawanagar, confirming the appointment. According to media reports, the royal family of Jamnagar, to which Jadeja belongs, boasts a rich legacy in cricket. The renowned Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy are named after K.S. Ranjitsinhji and K.S. Duleepsinhji, respectively, who were relatives of Jadeja.
The Jam Saheb of Nawanagar holds a significant position in the history of the region. The current Jam Saheb, Tikavijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji, fondly known as the “Good Maharaja,” is revered for his humanitarian efforts during World War II.
Jadeja’s father, Dhaulaksinhji Jadeja, was a three-time Member of Parliament from Jamnagar Lok Sabha constituency. His mother is from Alappuzha, Kerala. Jadeja is married to Aditi Jaitley, daughter of the late finance minister Arun Jaitley, and they have two children, Aiman and Amira.
