Sun Oct 13 03:41:08 UTC 2024: ## India Condemns Attacks on Hindu Temples in Bangladesh

**Dhaka, October 12, 2024:** The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has strongly condemned the recent attacks on Hindu temples and mandaps in Bangladesh, expressing serious concerns over the incidents that occurred during the Durga Puja festival.

In a statement released on Saturday, the MEA specifically condemned the attack on a puja mandap in Dhaka’s Tanti Bazar and the theft of a crown from the revered Jaishoreshwari Kali temple in Satkhira. The statement highlighted the “systematic pattern” of targeting Hindu places of worship, which has been observed for several days.

The MEA urged the Bangladesh government to ensure the safety and security of the Hindu minority population and their places of worship, especially during the festive season.

The theft of the crown, reportedly gifted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Bangladesh in March 2021, has drawn particular attention. The Satkhira police are investigating the matter and reviewing CCTV footage to identify the culprit.
