Sun Oct 13 04:41:00 UTC 2024: ## PM Modi Gifted Crown Stolen from Goddess Kali Temple in Bangladesh

**Satkhira, Bangladesh:** A golden and silver crown, gifted to the Jashoréshwari Kali Temple by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his 2021 visit to Bangladesh, has been stolen. The temple, located in Satkhira, is considered one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in Hinduism and is over 400 years old.

The theft was discovered on Thursday afternoon when cleaning staff noticed the crown missing from the deity’s head. The incident occurred shortly after the temple priest had left after performing the daily puja. The temple’s caretaker, Jyoti Chattopadhyay, confirmed the theft, stating that the crown was made of gold and silver.

The Indian government has expressed deep concern over the incident and has urged the Bangladesh government to investigate the theft and recover the stolen crown. The Indian High Commission in Dhaka issued a statement expressing concern and requesting the Bangladesh government to take action against the perpetrators.

The Jashoréshwari Temple, situated in Eshwarpur, Satkhira, is believed to have been built by a Brahmin named Anari in the late 12th century. The temple, with its 100 doors, was renovated by Lakshman Sen in the 13th century and rebuilt by Raja Pratapaditya in the 16th century.

The theft of the crown gifted by PM Modi has sent shockwaves through both India and Bangladesh, raising concerns about the safety of religious sites and cultural artifacts. The Indian government is actively working with Bangladesh authorities to ensure the safe return of the stolen crown.
