**New Delhi:** The Modi government has launched a major initiative to address youth unemployment in India with the Prime Minister Internship Scheme. This pilot project, launched by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, aims to provide internship opportunities to students and prepare them for employment.

The scheme targets to provide internship opportunities to at least 1 crore young individuals over the next 5 years. Interested candidates can apply through the official website of the scheme, pminternship.mca.gov.in.

**Eligibility Criteria:**

* Applicants must have completed higher secondary or high school education.
* They must possess an ITI certificate, diploma from a polytechnic institute, or a degree like B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., B.C.A., B.B.A., or B.Pharm.
* Students pursuing distance learning programs are also eligible.
* Age criteria: 21 to 24 years.

**Benefits:**

* The 12-month internship program provides a stipend of INR 5,000 per month, with INR 500 contributed by the company and INR 4,500 by the government.
* An additional INR 6,000 will be provided to cover unforeseen expenses.
* Beneficiaries will also receive insurance coverage under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, with the premium paid by the government.
