**New Delhi, October 12, 2024:** The much-anticipated Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme in Top Companies (TPISTPS) pilot project is now open for applications. Unemployed youth between the ages of 21 and 24 can apply through the dedicated portal, pminternship.mca.gov.in, starting this evening.

The scheme, announced in the Union Budget, aims to bridge the gap between the skills of unemployed youth and the requirements of employers. It offers a one-year internship program with over 90,000 opportunities currently available across 24 sectors and 737 districts in 37 states and union territories.

Major private sector companies, including Jubilant Foodworks, Maruti Suzuki India, Eicher Motor Ltd., Larsen & Toubro Ltd., Muthoot Finance, and Reliance Industries, have already posted internship opportunities on the portal. The program encompasses a wide range of fields, including Operations Management, production and manufacturing, maintenance, sales and marketing, and more.

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs, leading the initiative, aims to train one crore youth over the next five years. This pilot project, costing ₹800 crore, will provide valuable insights for the scheme’s full-fledged rollout after Cabinet approval.

The application window for the first batch of internships will remain open until October 25. Applicants will need to self-certify their educational qualifications and provide their residential pin codes. The government expects around 1 lakh youngsters to participate in the program by December 2.
