**Trichy, Tamil Nadu, October 11, 2024** – An Air India Express flight bound for Sharjah from Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) airport in Tamil Nadu made a safe emergency landing on Friday evening after reporting a hydraulic failure. The flight, carrying 140 passengers, took off at 5:43 pm but experienced a technical snag shortly after departure.

The aircraft, AXB 613, circled multiple times in the designated airspace as a precautionary measure to reduce fuel and weight before landing safely at Trichy airport. The crew followed all safety protocols and ensured the well-being of all passengers.

While the airline initially clarified that no emergency was declared by the operating crew, the Civil Aviation Ministry confirmed that a full emergency was declared at 6:05 pm IST. The airport and emergency teams responded swiftly and effectively, with the aircraft successfully landing at 8:15 pm IST.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will investigate the cause of the hydraulic failure. Minister of Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu commended the crew for their quick response and the smooth coordination of the emergency landing.

An alternative aircraft is being arranged to continue the journey of the passengers to Sharjah.
