Fri Oct 11 22:45:41 UTC 2024: ## Modi Inaugurates Projects, Slams Opposition in Maharashtra

**MUMBAI** – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday virtually inaugurated several infrastructure and development projects in Maharashtra, while launching a scathing attack on the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition.

Modi, addressing a gathering in Maharashtra, highlighted the rapid pace of development in the state, citing the recognition of Marathi as a classical language and the inauguration of various infrastructure projects like the Dr BR Ambedkar International Airport upgrade in Nagpur (worth Rs 7000 crore) and the new terminal building at Shirdi airport (worth Rs 645 crore). He also launched the operation of ten new medical colleges.

Drawing parallels with the BJP’s recent victory in Haryana, Modi warned against the MVA, claiming it would weaken Maharashtra and urged voters to reject it in the upcoming state assembly elections. He criticized the MVA’s divisive politics, accusing them of misleading voters for personal gains and stoking fear among Muslims to create vote banks. He also condemned attempts to exploit caste divisions within Hinduism for political advantage, emphasizing the need to protect Hindu society from such forces.

The Prime Minister also launched a strong attack on the Congress, accusing them of spreading hatred and misinformation during the Haryana elections, particularly targeting Dalits with false promises and attempting to incite discontent among youth and farmers. He claimed voters in Haryana had seen through Congress’s “hateful conspiracies” and rejected their attempts to secure votes.

Modi’s visit and his sharp criticism of the opposition come ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections in Maharashtra. His speech emphasizes the BJP’s focus on development and its efforts to portray itself as the champion of a united and strong India, while simultaneously targeting the opposition for their alleged divisive tactics.
