Sat Oct 12 03:43:10 UTC 2024: ## Alia Bhatt’s “Jigra” Faces Tough Competition at Box Office

Alia Bhatt’s much-anticipated action thriller “Jigra” had a decent start at the box office, but faces stiff competition from other releases. The film, directed by Vasan Bala, garnered Rs 1.61 crore in India nett collection by 5 pm on its opening day, Friday. However, “Jigra” lags behind “Vettaiyan”, a Tamil film featuring Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, and other big names, which collected Rs 8.58 crore on its release day.

The film also faces competition from “Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video”, starring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri, which collected Rs 1.76 crore by the same time. Despite the strong competition, “Jigra” is expected to see a rise in collections as the day progresses, especially with its promising morning screenings.

Early reviews for “Jigra” have been mixed. Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express critiques Alia’s performance, stating that her “badass” character lacks the depth seen in her previous roles. “Jigra” marks Alia’s first Bollywood release since “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” (2023), and the film’s release coincides with the release of other high-profile films like “Vettaiyan” and “Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video”, making it a challenging time for the film to gain a foothold at the box office.
