**EAST LANSING, MI -** The Detroit Pistons dropped their second preseason game on Wednesday, falling to the Phoenix Suns 105-97 at Breslin Center. The loss came after a dominant 33-point victory over the Bucks on Sunday.
Despite a hot start, the Pistons struggled to maintain their momentum throughout the game. They shot a blistering 57.9% from the field in the first quarter but cooled significantly to just 28% in the second. The Suns took control in the third quarter, outscoring Detroit 31-16 and pushing their lead to double digits.
Jaden Ivey continued his impressive preseason form, leading the Pistons with 16 points and 5 assists. Cade Cunningham struggled offensively, scoring just 3 points in less than 19 minutes. However, he contributed 8 assists.
Kevin Durant paced the Suns with 21 points.
Head Coach J.B. Bickerstaff played a deep rotation, giving minutes to several bench players, including Wendell Moore Jr., Daniss Jenkins, Tosan Evbuomwan, Lamar Stevens, Javonte McCoy, and Dereon Seabron.
The Pistons showed signs of life in the fourth quarter, outscoring Phoenix 31-20, but ultimately fell short.
Both teams’ owners, Tom Gores (Pistons) and Mat Ishbia (Suns), were in attendance, adding to the Michigan State alumni connection.
The Pistons will look to rebound in their next preseason game.
