Fri Oct 11 23:00:00 UTC 2024: ## Coach Prime’s Future at CU Uncertain, Despite Strong Start

**BOULDER, CO** – While CU Buffs Athletic Director Rick George expressed confidence in Deion Sanders’ long-term future at the university, questions remain about the head coach’s commitment to the program.

Despite a promising 4-1 start, Sanders’ contract includes a renegotiation clause after the 2024 season, potentially opening the door for a departure. Sanders would face a significant buyout if he left after this season, with a $10 million penalty dropping to $8 million in 2025 and $5 million in 2026.

National pundits have consistently linked Sanders with high-profile programs in the SEC and ACC, particularly his alma mater Florida State. While the Seminoles are struggling with a 1-5 record, the Florida Gators have recently shown improvement.

George acknowledged the speculation surrounding Sanders, praising the culture he’s built and the program’s progress but acknowledging there’s still work to be done.

In other Buffs news, Sanders confirmed his son, Shilo Sanders, will be “full go” for Saturday’s game against No. 18 Kansas State, after recovering from arm surgery sustained in September.

The Buffs, who host the Wildcats on ESPN, are looking to continue their strong start under Sanders, who is 8-9 in his first eight games with the program.
