Fri Oct 11 21:28:28 UTC 2024: ## Air India Express Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Trichy After Hydraulic Failure

**Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu:** An Air India Express flight bound for Sharjah experienced a hydraulic failure shortly after takeoff from Tiruchirappalli airport on Friday evening. The flight, carrying 140 passengers, had to return and make an emergency landing at the same airport.

The pilot reported the technical snag mid-air and alerted the air traffic control. The flight circled over the city airspace for a period of time while preparing for a potential belly landing, which involves landing without the use of the landing gear. However, the landing gear deployed successfully and the aircraft landed safely, drawing cheers from onlookers.

“The airport was put on alert mode,” said a statement from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, adding that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had been monitoring the situation closely.

Fuel dumping was considered as a measure to lighten the aircraft, but the idea was discarded due to the flight’s proximity to residential areas. Ambulances and rescue teams were stationed at the airport as a precautionary measure.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin praised the pilot and crew for the safe landing, stating that he had coordinated an emergency meeting with officials and instructed them to implement necessary safety measures. He also directed the District Collector to ensure the continued well-being of all passengers.
