Fri Oct 11 23:05:29 UTC 2024: ## Air India Express Flight Makes Emergency Landing After Landing Gear Glitch

**Trichy, India:** An Air India Express flight bound for Sharjah from Trichy experienced a technical issue shortly after takeoff on Friday evening, forcing the aircraft to circle in the sky for over two hours before making a safe emergency landing.

The flight, carrying 141 passengers, took off at 5:30 pm. However, the plane’s landing gear failed to retract, leading to concerns about a potential crash landing.

The crew, following protocol, circled the airspace to reduce fuel and weight before attempting a landing. Emergency response teams, including 20 ambulances and fire services, were put on standby at Trichy airport.

The aircraft landed safely at 8:15 pm. While no emergency was declared by the crew, the aircraft circled multiple times as a precaution.

An Air India Express spokesperson clarified that the technical snag would be investigated, and an alternate aircraft is being arranged for the passengers’ onward journey. They expressed regret for the inconvenience and reaffirmed their commitment to safety.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is conducting a thorough examination of the aircraft to determine the cause of the hydraulic issue.

Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu lauded the airport and emergency teams for their swift response and instructed the DGCA to investigate the incident.

Governor R N Ravi expressed gratitude to the crew for their professionalism and calm during the tense situation, commending their courage and skill in ensuring the safety of all passengers.
