**Mumbai, October 11, 2024:** Renowned actor Sayaji Shinde joined the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Friday, a move that signals a boost to the party’s campaign ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. The actor, known for his roles in films across various Indian languages, was welcomed into the party by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, working president Praful Patel, and state unit chief Sunil Tatkare.

Shinde, who has played a politician in several films, expressed his admiration for Pawar’s leadership and his dedication to afforestation. He stated that joining the NCP will allow him to work more effectively towards his causes. The actor will be the party’s star campaigner for the upcoming elections, scheduled for next month.

NCP leaders hailed Shinde’s decision, praising his vast filmography and social activism. State Minister and NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal highlighted Shinde’s contributions to Marathi, Hindi, and South Indian cinema.

Shinde, who started his acting career in Marathi theatre, achieved mainstream recognition in Bollywood with the 1999 film ‘Shool.’ He has since starred in films across multiple languages, including his critically acclaimed role in the 2001 biopic ‘Bharathi,’ which earned the National award for Best Feature Film.

With the addition of Shinde to their ranks, the NCP hopes to leverage his popularity and influence among voters to secure a strong showing in the upcoming Assembly elections.
